My Look At Blogs: My Own Thoughts on Your Views

The blogs I chose to comment on today both have to do with politics. One of them goes back and reinforces the idea of my first blog. It deals with Senator Hillary Clinton (shown below) and minorities. The title of the blog is Clinton releases first radio ad, targets black voters. This blog discusses how Hillary launched her first radio ad in South Carolina aimed at Africa American voters. "The ad will run on two-dozen radio stations of "predominantly African American listenership" across the state, according to the Clinton campaign." This ad pushes the image of Clinton being the "candidate of change." Obama was the first one to do this type of adverstisement in South Carolina. He aired his ad through gospel and urban stations pushing the image of Obama being the "Christian family man." I thought that this was an interesting blog because it shows the efforts of both of these candidates in reaching their different voter population. My second blog was called New lawyers face a tough job market. This blog talked about the amount of lawyers this country is reproducing. I think this is relevant to my blog theme because many politicians have law degrees. According to the blog there are too many lawyers and not enough jobs for them. It is said that lawyers do not get paid as much as people believe and this is a problem for students who come out of law school with a large debt. My comments for both blogs are found below or you can follow the corresponding links and check out the actual blogs and comments on your own.

Clinton releases first radio ad, targets black voters Comment:
I think this blog is very interesting. It shows people the ways these candidates go about to reach their different voter population. I think that though these two candidates seem to have good qualifications for presidency, Clinton's ad might have a stronger impact on people. We have seen how her husband was able to clean up the mess of "daddy Bush" therefore one can rightfully assume that Mrs. Clinton is ready to clean up the mess "Bush son" has done. I think that people can buy the idea of the "candidate of change" more than the idea of "Christian family man" because these politicians keep letting people down when it comes to moral standards. We find more affairs and immoral actions everyday. To me the whole idea of I'm a Christian person full of morals is never a realistic thought. Personally I think pushing this idea is like putting on a I'm a "good boy front" until I get elected because that is what matters to them. Once in office they know they can pretty much be who they want to be because they are there and what can we really do about it... if not lets look at Bush who thinks he is the only one who has a say on how to run this country.

New lawyers face a tough job market Comment:
I think this is a very important article for people to read. I've been hearing the same thing from my political science professors for a while now. We have too many lawyers. I believe it too becuase I see so many people every year preparing to go to law school. I can only imagine if all of them get into law school and make it out of law school...wow that adds up to too many lawyers. And really I myself do not think we have that many lawyer positions opened. This sucks because I can imagine the debt these people come out with and they really need to work and get paid very well in order to progress in their social status (for those who need to) and then to be able to get out of debt. Wow. Nice topic for a blog. I wish you had added a little more concrete information. Things like how much lawyers make to reinforce your idea that lawyers do not make a lot of money. Maybe some statistics of how many lawyers this country is reproducing. Keep it as a thought for next time.

Hillary Clinton Cares About Minorities: Hispanics Matter To Her

The 2008 presidential election can be considered one of the most important and controversial elections of our times. Americans finally have a chance to break through one of two barriers. They have the chance to elect either the first African American president of the United States, Barrack Obama, or the first women president of the United States, Hillary Clinton (shown in left). Both candidates aim to represent the Democratic Party but off course only one will be successful. Their success will all depend on how well they can work with the American people and gain their trust.

Latest polls have shown that in California Hillary Clinton has a thirty-point lead over her competition. Many polls throughout different states show similar statistics where Hillary Clinton comes out on top over her opponents. Perhaps this goes to show that she is doing something right to earn the people's trust. I believeone one of her smart moves has been the way that she is showing that she cares for our country's minority groups. For example, she is making sure to involve one of our fastest growing minority groups, Latinos.

Univision this past Sunday aired the "first Spanish-language debate" ever.
We see how the Latino community is beginning to play an essential role in politics because candidates care to reach out to them. Debate-watching parties for this event were hosted all across California. Fox 11 News, reported from the Hillary Clinton campaign headquarters where one of these debate-watching parties was hosted. There one of Clinton’s supporters spoke out about the reasons she admires Senator Clinton and undoubtedly one reason was that she cares about Hispanics. Furthermore this can be seen by the opportunity she gave Patti Solis Doyle (shown at the right ) on becoming the first Latina campaign manager in a presidential campaign. "Solis Doyle is a charter member of "Hillaryland" who went to work for Clinton during the 1992 presidential campaign and stayed through eight years in the White House." Patti Solis states in her blog, "As campaign manager, but most importantly as a Latina, I'm proud to see the growing role that the Hispanic community is playing in electing the next president of the United States. Our campaign will continue to reach out to Latinos and engage them so that they can help Hillary Clinton bring the change that America needs."

Recently Clinton reached out to the Hispanic community by joining them in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.
She states, "As president I will be committed to ensuring that every Hispanic family has the opportunities they need to realize their dreams of a better life." She sends them a warm message in where she states that as president she will help open doors of opportunities. This past Friday, September 14, 2007, she made an appearance at Drew Magnet High School in where she discussed her efforts to bring civil rights to the table. She would like to turn this country, to a country where "there will not be any invisible Americans." As I stood there listening to her words something within me reassured me that she is the right woman for the job.

So far statistics and Clinton's actions can make one assume that she will have great success in this race. It is evident that she is working hard to make sure she can solve many of the problems this country is facing. She is scheduled to discuss her health care plan this Tuesday. This issue is important not only to Hispanics but to millions of Americans who are in need of a better health care system. "Hillary's American Health Choices Plan covers all Americans and improves health care by lowering costs and improving quality. It speaks to American values, American families, and American jobs."
