The role of women in politics has been a very controversial one during the years. Though women have held congressional positions since the 1920's some Americans still do not see them as competent enough to hold dominant government positions. For this reason the 2008 elections have been very exciting to follow. In the United States we have the first female candidate running for President with an actual potential to win. Latin countries that have held elections this year have also had female candidates run for the presidency and in places like Argentina they are now celebrating the fact that they now have their first elected female president. One of the posts I read was about Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (shown at bottom left), the first female President of Argentina. The post called Argentina's First Lady: I'm No Pantsuit talked about Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner Argentina's new president and how she does not like to be compared with Senator Clinton. I also took a look at a post called Will It Be Hillary and Bill In 2008?, which talks about how Senator Clinton (shown at bottom right) is now being heavily attacked by her democratic oponents since they know that she is the front runner. The fact that she has a potential chance at winning is making the other candidates look for "the dirt" on her in hope that her popularity decreases before the election comes around.
Argentina's First Lady: I'm No Pantsuit: 
I think that the idea of a female president is great. I am glad that Argentina is so libreal and ready to see what the future for Argentina will bring with a female president. This should show all those skeptical people in the United States that if another country who is not as great as ours has taken that step to elect a female President, then we must be ready.Now I do not think that Fernandez should automatically be compared to Clinton because though they are both women it does not necessarily mean they went through the same struggle to attain their positions. Besides it clearly seems that Fernandez is not fond of this comparison. However I think that Fernandez should be honored to be compared to another female that through her struggle and hard work is gaining much support from the American people and is also ready to lead the country. I do hope that Fernandez proves herself to be a great leader and can take Argentina into a progressive path. This way she can prove that women are ready to aspire for the highest offices of power.
Will It Be Hillary and Bill In 2008?:
This was a very interesting post. I have seen how the fact that Hillary has a real chance at winning is making these other candidates attack her in the hope of bringing her popularity down. You state, "For Barack Obama to defeat Hillary in the primaries he, Edwards and Dodd must devote all of their resources to relentless advertising and media attacks against her." Personally I believe this is wrong. These candidates need to run on their own issues and worry about their own campaign but then again playing dirty is what the game of politics is all about...right? I think Hillary will make it through. The polls show her at a 40 point lead and her experience and accomplishments make her a strong candidate. This past week Argentina elected their first lady and if a country like that can do it then the greatest country on earth should be able to be open minded and give Hillary the opportunity of being the first Female President, don't you think? I believe the statement, "Hillary insists as a Wesseley College graduate she was prepared to compete with the old boy's club of presidential politics." Hillary has shown to be such a strong women with her head on right and ready to lead. Some Americans do not believe women are ready for high power positions but we have to prove those people wrong.

In the introduction, you commented that “some Americans still do not see them (women) as competent enough to hold dominant government positions,” and in the first blog comment, you restated that “if another country who is not as great as ours has taken that step to elect a female President, then we must be ready.” I agree that some Americans do have stereotypical impressions of female politicians and are skeptical about them running for president, but I believe the majority of the American populace is educated enough to overcome those impressions. Personally, I look forward to having a female president and I am ready to vote for her if she deserves my vote. We must keep in mind that Hillary should not be given the opportunity just because of the fact that she is a woman. This is not about gender, it is about the individual. Her ability and proposed policy must also be taken into account. Perhaps you can give us examples of Hillary’s primary policies so as to convince your readers that she is the one. As for the images and the links, they are fine.
Besides, the harmonious colors that you chose for the background, the text and the links give a sense of pleasantness to the blog space. I trust that visitors would all feel glad to linger in such an comfortable environment. A well-designed layout is always one of the most crucial elements of a good blog.
